A group of ten sentenced of online harassment directed at Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has found guilty ten people for engaging in the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the wife of French President, Emmanuel Macron.

The accused individuals faced charges of circulating false claims regarding her gender and sexual orientation, in addition to making malicious remarks about the pair's 24-year age gap.

The court delivered suspended prison sentences of a maximum of eight months to the perpetrators. The full ruling has yet to be released.

A persistent conspiracy theory claiming that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has existed since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.

This Monday's court decision in France comes as the Macrons initiating a defamation lawsuit in the US against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted comparable unfounded claims about the Brigitte Macron's identity.

Their complaint alleges that Owens brushed aside any factual proof contradicting her allegations choosing instead to platforming known conspiracy theorists.

Owens has often echoed these claims on her digital program and social media channels, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would risk all her credibility on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.

Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her future husband when she was a teacher at his secondary school.

The two entered into matrimony in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was 54.
