AC Shadows Reveals Surprising AoT Crossover for Holiday Season
In a bizarre crossover event that defies conventional expectations, the game developer has unveiled an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering free bonus story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Uncovered
According to the authorized release, "A strange meeting leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where whispers of banned rituals and fearsome changes resonate through the obscurity." The storyline presents a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a hidden group.
The adventure focuses on "strange experiments and a fearsome adversary" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Locations and Changes
The preview features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview finishes with a powerful sequence showing a character, presumably the captive, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Prizes and Additional Content
Players who successfully complete the quest will obtain an special katana together with numerous objects hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps steed
Latest Free Story Addition
This patch also adds the game's latest free story addition, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature techniques: Naoe reveals a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This marks scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime properties. The series earlier included a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
