European Leaders Condemn US Action as ‘Coercion’
European leaders including Emmanuel Macron accused the US administration of “coercion and intimidation”, following the visa restrictions targeted figures that were central to efforts to introduce legislation governing American tech companies.
“For too long, ideologues in Europe have led organised efforts to pressure American platforms to suppress American viewpoints they oppose,” wrote the US secretary of state online. “This government will no longer tolerate these egregious acts of censorship beyond its borders.”
