The two clubs have a historical link, also facing each other in Forest's most recent continental tour in the mid-90s European competition, but it is the European Cup final 46 years ago that connects these teams, with the record-breaking signing the English forward netting the decisive goal of a rather dull championship game to clinch eternal glory for the Forest supporters.

Tonight's game is a distant from that pinnacle, closer perhaps to the earlier European encounter between Forest and Malmö in that era. Forest are riding high after beating Liverpool 3-0 at the famous ground on Saturday, while Malmö haven't played officially since early November following the conclusion of their domestic campaign.
