From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, fiends, and dark forces increasing in strength within the city.
Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of heroes who will split off from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might look mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are best suited for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to go next after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, attacking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
Casimir then settled his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could help the group reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them few options but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
Future Episodes
Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Questers and Schemers tables.
Fans can expect learning which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
