Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a statement.
Police report they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then located many other smeared automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement report initial examinations show the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; investigators are currently not aware of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the community for details.
An important representative said the incident made him without words and required to be solved rapidly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a gunman targeting individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
